Vaginal atrophy, otherwise known as genitourinary syndrome of menopause (GSM), or atrophic vaginitis, occurs when the lining of the vagina thins due to decreasing estrogen levels. If you have this condition, you might experience discomfort during sexual intimacy and vaginal dryness.

We can address vaginal atrophy using carbon dioxide fractional laser therapy to heal the tissue that lines your vagina. When this tissue heals, it restores moisture levels. Carbon dioxide fractional laser therapy is noninvasive, and we do it at our office in three separate treatments at six-week increments. You might feel a slight vibration as we apply the laser, but the treatment is typically painless.
