About HCA HealthONE Colorado Breast Care Specialists
Our comprehensive program covers all aspects of your breast health. We perform lymph node procedures, mastectomies, lumpectomies, biopsies and oncoplastic breast surgery.
Our approach to breast care
Led by pioneering breast surgeon and global women’s health advocate Kayla Griffith, MD, excellence, innovation and progress are paramount to our practice.
We strive for these values in many ways. Our specialists offer new surgical techniques that can potentially provide the most holistic, confidence-boosting outcomes. We're committed to designing a proactive program for high-risk breast cancer care and providing in-depth second-opinion consultations.
What is perhaps most unique about our practice and providers is our enthusiasm for your personal success. When you choose our practice, you gain a team of cheerleaders, friends and supporters. We are passionate about developing a treatment plan that is best for you. Your care team works alongside you to fulfill it, ensuring you return to your life without settling or compromising.
Treatments and services we offer
We collaborate with a network of trusted women’s health specialists to treat complex breast conditions, including:
- Breast cancer
- Malignant breast disorders
- Malignant breast lumps
Benign breast surgery
Because symptoms of benign breast conditions can mimic breast cancer, a biopsy is often performed to determine if cancer is present. If the condition is benign but painful or affects daily life, surgery can be an excellent treatment option.
Benign breast conditions include:
- Breast cysts
- Fibroadenoma
- Fibrocystic breast disease
- Intraductal papillomas
- Traumatic fat necrosis in breast
Breast cancer surgery
If you've been diagnosed with breast cancer, you may benefit from surgery as part of your comprehensive treatment plan. We offer surgical options designed to detect if the cancer has spread and remove as much of it as possible. Surgery can also relieve symptoms of advanced cancer and restore the breasts with a holistic outcome as our goal. Our surgeries include:
- Breast conservation therapy
- Lumpectomy or partial mastectomy, including with breast reduction
- Lymph node procedures
- Axillary lymph node dissection
- Sentinel lymph node biopsy
- Targeted lymph node biopsy or dissection
- Mastectomy
- Bilateral or “double” mastectomy
- Modified radical mastectomy
- Nipple-sparing mastectomy
- Simple or total mastectomy
- Skin-sparing mastectomy
- Port placement for chemotherapy
A team approach to breast surgery
We are pleased to provide our relationship-based breast care in collaboration with a network of skilled women’s health specialists at HCA HealthONE Rose. We coordinate your care with a multidisciplinary team of experts that includes primary care physicians, oncologists and radiologists. Our specialists are highly trained in their fields and dedicated to exceeding quality expectations.
Our commitment to holistic outcomes
As part of our commitment to never settle, we believe you should have a choice and shouldn’t have to compromise the appearance or sensation of your breasts after beating cancer. While a mastectomy is often an excellent clinical choice for breast cancer treatment, the physical changes left by the surgery can affect your confidence and self-esteem.
We are always looking for new ways to help women restore their confidence. For most, this means performing breast reconstruction at the same time as breast cancer surgery. Most women benefit from hidden scar techniques and wire-free breast surgery. We also provide nipple-sparing and skin-sparing procedures, as well as an innovative technique to restore nipple sensation after breast surgery. Our goal is to provide you with a holistic and confidence-boosting outcome.
High-risk breast cancer program
There have been many recent advancements in breast cancer screening, genetic testing and family health knowledge. As a result, some women know they are at an increased risk of breast cancer before any treatment would be necessary. We have designed a program to help women in this category take a proactive approach to their health, including tailored image screening plans as well as options for prophylactic mastectomy with reconstruction when indicated. For women with high-risk breast cancer lesions, such as atypia ductal hyperplasia (ADH) and lobular carcinoma in situ (LCIS), regular monitoring and excision can help ensure breast cancer does not develop.
Second-opinion consultations
Breast cancer treatment options can be complex, and many women feel overwhelmed by information. Getting a second opinion from a different provider can help ensure you are fully informed of the next best steps for your care. We are honored to provide second-opinion consultations on diagnosis, treatment plans or surgical treatment options. These consultations can be offered in person or via telehealth when living outside Colorado.
When you contact us for a second opinion consultation, our team works with you to get your medical records sent to our office prior to your consultation. If we are providing a full second opinion (diagnosis and treatment plan), our team will present your case to the team of breast cancer specialists during our multidisciplinary breast cancer care conference. This group of expert providers reviews your medical record and test results and collaborates to develop an individualized care plan on your behalf.
Our recommendation is given to you whether you decide to transfer your care to our program fully, engage our providers for surgical care or decide to stay with your original provider. Contact our office to schedule your second opinion consultation by calling (303) 788-9293.
