Surgery
Surgery is a branch of medicine that involves treating diseases or injuries by adjusting or removing organs, tissues or bones. Surgery includes both necessary procedures, like cardiac surgery, or elective procedures, such as joint replacement.

Breast surgery
Our fellowship-trained surgeons perform breast procedures to treat both cancerous and noncancerous conditions, using minimally invasive techniques whenever possible. Through our innovative technology, we can simultaneously remove cancerous tumors or tissue and complete reconstructive breast surgery.
Cardiovascular surgery
We perform many types of cardiac surgery and vascular surgery, including minimally invasive procedures that use a catheter to clear blood vessels, replace valves and correct arrhythmias. Some of these allow for congenital heart condition corrections, coronary bypass grafting and transcatheter aortic valve replacement (TAVR). Common vascular conditions we treat include abdominal aortic aneurysms, carotid artery disease, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) and peripheral artery disease (PAD).
Ear, nose and throat (ENT) surgery

- Esophagectomy
- Laryngectomy
- Reconstructive surgeries of the face, head and neck
- Tonsillectomy

Gallbladder surgery
If your gallbladder stops working like it should, we recommend surgery to address your symptoms. Your issue may be caused by gallstones or biliary dyskinesia, both of which occur when bile isn't flowing into the intestine properly. We use laparoscopic surgery to correct these conditions. This procedure involves inserting a small camera into the site to view the gallbladder, allowing our surgeons to use tiny instruments to correct your problem.
Hernia repair
When tissue pushes through a hole in the abdominal muscle, you have a hernia — a visible bulge that can also be felt on your skin. Our surgical teams repair multiple types of hernias, including:
- Incisional hernias — Occur anywhere within the abdominal wall muscle where a previous operation was performed
- Inguinal hernias — Hernias found in the groin area just above the pubic bone
- Sports hernias — A chronic injury where inguinal hernias occur that's caused by vigorous athletic activity
- Umbilical hernias — Occur along the midline of the abdominal wall between the belly button and sternum
Hernias don't always require surgery, but yours should be repaired if it's painful or naturally growing larger over time. Modern hernia surgery involves reconstructing your abdominal wall with a specialized type of mesh. Recurrence rates with mesh are significantly lower than those without, depending on the type of hernia and your health condition. If your hernia is small and painless, however, we typically monitor it to detect any changes.
Gynecological and urogynecological surgery
Our skilled surgeons perform a range of gynecological surgeries, from diagnostic laparoscopy to complex abdominal procedures. Some of the surgeries we perform include biopsies, hysterectomies, myomectomies and tubal ligation. We also treat pelvic floor dysfunction and pelvic prolapse, offering a range of urogynecological procedures that include bladder suspension surgery and sacrocolpopexy.
Minimally invasive surgery
Minimally invasive surgery allows for small incisions using a camera, catheter or robotic arms. These devices help our surgeons gain more control while performing your procedure. This approach to surgery contributes to less overall risk, fewer complications and a faster recovery.
Robotic surgery
Our surgeons have specialized training in robot-assisted gynecological and thoracic surgery, which allows us to perform complex procedures in a minimally invasive fashion. With robotic surgery, specialized 3D optics allow high-definition visualization at the surgical site. This greater visibility helps us perform difficult procedures as safely as possible.
Neurosurgery
We can perform many complicated neurological procedures on your brain, back and spinal cord. These procedures range from herniated disc surgery and spinal fusion to brain tumor surgery and cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) shunt insertion.
Orthopedic surgery
Our comprehensive orthopedic care program provides you with the diagnosis and treatment of a range of orthopedic conditions. They include joint replacement, bone tumors, complex fractures and soft tissue sarcomas.
Pediatric surgery
To cater to the specific health needs of kids, we offer compassionate pediatric surgical care based on medical best practices. We know treatment for children of all ages can be different from that of adults, and our teams strive to keep the unique needs of your child in mind.
Spine surgery
When medication, pain management and physical therapy can't relieve back pain, we can perform spine surgery. Many of our procedures are minimally invasive and include discectomies, spine decompressions and spinal fusion.
Thoracic surgery
Thoracic surgery includes any surgery performed on the organs of the chest, including the heart, lungs and esophagus. Our team provides surgical care for several conditions affecting this area of your body, including chest wall tumors and esophageal or lung cancer.
