Blood sugar spikes after meals may raise Alzheimer's risk

A new study points to glucose levels two hours post-meal as a significant link between diabetes and dementia.

“We’ve known for some time that patients with elevated blood glucose [as in] type 2 diabetes are at higher risk for worse brain health over their lifetime,” says Scott Joy, M.D., an internal medicine physician and the chief medical officer for HCA HealthONE Physician Services in Englewood, CO, who was not involved in the study.
